Outdoor cameras · HomeShield
Outdoor cameras help you see approaches before someone reaches the door. Home Shield prefers professional wired PoE/NVR systems for many properties, and also offers Alarm.com cameras when you want video inside the same app as your security — with clear talk about which path uses which app.
What it is
We place outdoor cameras where they help most: front approaches, driveways, side yards, and detached structures when the job warrants it. Day/night viewing and durable outdoor-rated hardware are part of the design conversation.
Preferred installs often use hardwired PoE cameras with an on-site network video recorder for local recording and viewing. Alarm.com outdoor cameras (Wi-Fi and wired/PoE where offered) are recommended when unified app viewing is the priority.

Equipment paths
Path A — Preferred wired PoE/NVR: cameras record to an on-site NVR; live view and playback use the NVR/camera app or local display. Security arming stays in Alarm.com / Edge. We do not claim these cameras automatically appear in Alarm.com.
Path B — Alarm.com cameras: outdoor Wi-Fi and PoE models where offered, viewed in Alarm.com when your video plan supports them. Useful when one interactive app is the goal.
Hardwired power/data, local continuous recording habits for many properties.
App-unified video for compatible ADC cameras and plans.
