Continuous recording · cameras
“24/7 recording” means different things on different systems. Home Shield explains on-site NVR continuous recording for preferred wired cameras, and Alarm.com recording options for ADC cameras — without inventing retention days, resolutions, or channel counts.
What it is
Many consumer cameras mostly save event clips. Continuous recording keeps a rolling history on a recorder or onboard storage so you can scrub a timeline, not only open motion clips.
Preferred wired PoE/NVR systems typically record continuously to the on-site NVR hard drive. Alarm.com paths may use cloud event clips, onboard storage on select cameras, and/or Alarm.com SVR/CSVR products for continuous timelines inside Alarm.com — plan and hardware dependent.

How we talk about retention
Retention length is a function of hard-drive capacity, number of cameras, scene complexity, and recording settings. We estimate during design for the quoted recorder — we do not publish fake “30-day” promises here.
If continuous recording inside Alarm.com matters, ask specifically about ADC recording products and video plans. If maximum wired camera density with local NVR habits matters, ask about the preferred PoE/NVR path.
