Water & flood sensors · HomeShield
A slow leak under a laundry sink or a water heater pan can cost more than many security upgrades. Flood and water sensors tied to a HomeShield 2GIG Edge system help you get alerts when moisture shows up where it should not.
What it is
Water/flood sensors detect moisture at floor level or in pans under appliances. When enrolled on your Edge panel, they can sound locally and notify you through Alarm.com depending on your interactive plan.
They are environmental protection — not a substitute for plumbing maintenance — but they buy time when something starts dripping while you are away.
Who it’s for
Washers, sinks, and water heaters on finished flooring.
Homes where seepage or appliance failures show up downstairs first.
Properties that sit empty long enough for a small leak to become a large claim.
Benefits
Know about moisture events through the same security ecosystem you already use.
Focus spend on laundry, mechanical, and basement corners that actually flood.
Compatible flood/temp and leak sensors verified for 2GIG Edge.
Often quoted alongside smoke/CO when building a fuller protected home.
Easy for households to understand: if it gets wet, you hear about it.

Equipment notes
We prefer current eSeries environmental sensors for new Edge installs. Some devices combine flood and temperature sensing — useful near mechanical equipment. Exact models are confirmed at design time.
Sensors need a clear spot where water collects first. We do not invent wireless range miracles or claim every sensor stops damage by itself.
Water heaters and washers often get a sensor in or beside the pan.
Basement corners and laundry floors where water runs first.
Compatibility and feature set confirmed for your Edge panel.

FAQ
Basic flood sensors alert; automatic shutoff requires additional compatible equipment and design. Ask if shutoff is a goal during your quote.
Not always. We prioritize highest-risk appliances and low points. Bathrooms can be added when the layout warrants.
With Alarm.com interactive service and compatible enrollment, environmental alerts can reach the app — plan dependent.
Different tools. Flood sensors detect moisture; sump monitoring is a separate conversation if you need pump-specific alerts.
